Community Groups

Program of cross boarder, integrated single denomination and local community group joint project's and visits

Community groups contacted have offered their support to BVM project. Support from the community groups comes in many different forms: visiting, offering talks on the history of art, displaying independent works of art, preforming plays, differing forms of dance and reading and reciting literature all for the community. BVM is in dialogue with some community groups in the area to establish which groups would be interested in meeting and working on combined community project's. Community groups from the local area, the Boarder Regions and the R.o.I are being contacted and a directory is being kept of community groups that want to participate in combined community project's.

BVM will determine which community groups are best suited to work together and this will be determined from the directory and decisions will be based on size, area's of interest and actives covered. Once grouped BVM will contact the relevant community group informing them that a group has expressed an interest in working on a joint community project. Groups will draw 5 members from their own groups for selection for the joint partnership panel made up of equal numbers, denominations and/or ethnicity. Both appointed groups attend a preliminary meeting held in the community room located on the first floor of the second proposed build (the community building complex).

This meeting will establish what skills, experience, abilities, team building strengths, leadership, forms of motivation and commitment is needed to develop and bring to a completion the project. Groups will draw from their selected members those which posses some or all of these skills within one month of the preliminary meeting and the secondary meeting will see the commencement of the panel and the undertaking of the project. The panel will attend monthly meeting's held on the first floor of the community building complex to discuss coordinate and manage problems and the project. BVM will also play a role in the coordination and management of combined community projects. All joint projects and independent community group projects whose focus area is the preforming arts will rehearse and perform on the stage area on the ground floor of the community building complex.

A local community crafts group have expressed an interest in working on a joint arts and craft's project . within the museum on opening with local community group's and community groups from the Boarder Regions and the R.o.I The craft group are interested in designing and making a quilt or needlework tapestry which will depict historical factors that have a common theme and link both comminutes. Joint arts and crafts projects will take place on the first floor of the community building complex. Large art projects such sculpting will however be carried out in the courtyard and will only run May-August.
